Design and production of submersible load cells to monitor floating solar moorings

ACORDE TECHNOLOGIES S.A.

The references of submersible load cells available in the market are reduced and even, with certain specifications, nonexistent, which forces the use of oversized models. In addition, the delivery time and costs of the load cells are high, affecting both the competitiveness of the solution proposed to the customer, the project execution time, and the availability of replacement units in case of failure scenarios.

Tracking and traceability of materials within the shipyard

ASTANDER

Lack of traceability of materials within the shipyard. From the arrival of the raw material to its assembly, traceability is often lost (products, certificates, among others.). No program provides support to know the location of the materials within the shipyard.

Gas cooktop virtualization system

BSH Electrodomésticos España

The challenge is to show the performance of a gas cooking appliance at a point of sale where there is no access to the gas network and, therefore, no flame.

Reducing energy costs in the production of synthetic rubber, reducing its carbon footprint

DYNASOL ELASTÓMEROS S.A.U.

There is a need to identify and develop new ideas to reduce energy consumption in the production process to contribute to meeting the group's sustainability objectives.
Identifying new technologies to reduce consumption and/or recover waste heat from process streams is necessary.

Application for controlling and locating tooling in the plant

GAMESA ELECTRIC

The aim would be to know the control and location of tools in the plant, both in the production environment and warehouse. In this way, it would be known:
(a) Status. (In production; Available in the warehouse and its corresponding cell; scrapped).
b) To have the possibility that some of them can be inspected and to know their inspection period and date.
c) Location in plant and inventory.

Planning and simulation of port operations

GRUPO GOF

Currently, the planning of unloading, storage, and delivery of goods is done manually and based entirely on experience rather than objective data. We need a tool that helps us to improve decision-making through a predictive system but at the same time allows us to simulate possible ship arrivals and to be able to optimize our operational capabilities to the maximum.

Detection and classification of surface defects in wire rods at the exit of the rolling mill.

Global Steel Wire

One of the essential characteristics of long steel products for the automotive sector is the quality of the wire rod surface: absence of defects (marks, cracks, incrustations, among others) that can cause subsequent failures in the manufactured parts (breakage due to fatigue or reduction of mechanical properties).

Platform for corporate entrepreneurship in healthcare

Fundación Instituto de Investigación Marqués de Valdecilla (IDIVAL)

The problem to be solved is the need for virtual tools for the collaborative design and monitoring of innovation programs in healthcare environments.
With this proposal, we seek to promote an environment that allows health system professionals to explore opportunities to innovate, move away from routine work, learn about alternative practices that they can join, have real-time interactions with other professionals, access specific training or work on new developments and business models focused on patients, among others.
This requires the participation of multiple stakeholders: patients, clinicians, managers, researchers, support staff, managers, and companies. A system adapted to the phases of health entrepreneurship programs is required so that the identification of challenges, the collaborative preparation of solutions, and their follow-up can be carried out in an appropriate working and communication environment. This environment can count in the first phase with simple capabilities, as it is scalable and replicable in other healthcare environments.

Model for Predicting Absenteeism due to Temporary Disability

MUTUA MONTAÑESA

Absenteeism due to temporary Disability (TI) for companies is a variable that affects their productivity, and the easier it is to predict, the easier it will be to manage. Mutua Montañesa aims to facilitate this need for its member companies by providing predictive models that provide greater value in this management.

Application for social-health communication with patients' families.

Hospital Padre Menni

An application is required for the socio-health community with patients' families. The main objective will be to provide the following functionality:
- Messaging between patients' families and professionals of the Padre Menni Hospital Center (CHPM), and between professionals of the different units of the CHPM, including the exchange of textual messages and multimedia files (audio, images, videos, and documents).
- Notifications (push, email) of messaging events.
- Planning and realization of a live video call between patients' relatives and CHPM professionals and between professionals from different CHPM units.
- General bulletin board ("global messaging channel").
- Events calendar.
- Presentation and extraction of statistics, metrics, and records on using the platform.
- Obtaining feedback from relatives/patients using a suggestion or complaint form and a satisfaction survey.

Energy consumption optimization tool for gas furnaces for heat treatment or reheating of steel

REINOSA FORGINGS & CASTINGS

The gas consumption of heat treatment furnaces is an integral part of the total production cost of a steel, ceramic, or glass factory. Developing a tool for optimizing thermal processes can lead to a significant reduction in emissions and energy savings.
Starting from the characteristics of the installations (dimensions, number of burners, insulation materials), of the products to be processed (dimensions, distribution in the furnace, steel grade), and of the thermal cycle (time, temperature, soaking degree), and their correlation with the data obtained online from the process; instantaneous gas consumption, accumulated consumption, furnace load, thermal cycle temperatures, or combustion parameters (excess air, furnace pressure, oxygen in the gases, among others), the tool should help to optimize the process with one or more of the following objectives:
- Optimize consumption per unit or kg of product.
- Reduce furnace occupancy times.
- Predict temperature dispersion within the material.
- Control the repeatability of the process to allow a consistent quality result and avoid reprocessing with the consequent reduction in consumption and emissions.

Traceability of materials susceptible to follow-up (prostheses, osteosynthesis materials, other implants)

HOSPITAL SANTA CLOTILDE

Currently, the prosthesis traceability process (as well as other osteosynthesis materials or other implants susceptible to traceability) carried out by the hospital ensures the recording and automated follow-up of the information related to the material-patient assignment; the data is linked to the patient's clinical history.
As for the phase of the process related to the information delivered to the patient, this is done on paper, including the traceability information of the implanted material.
The aim is to automate the information delivery phase to the patient using a computer tool that ensures patient follow-up and safety.

Tool for visualization and optimization of vehicle usage using data acquired by a communication switchboard.

SEG AUTOMOTIVE SPAIN S.A.U.

SEG has its device (both HW and SW) called CCU (Communication Control Unit), capable of communicating via Bluetooth or LTE (Cat M1), with geolocation (GNSS) and accelerometer, as well as CAN communication protocol with the rest of the vehicle's control units. Additionally, it incorporates several I/Os for reading temperature sensors, identification via iButton, and relay management, among others.
The device is mainly aimed at fleet management: both large logistics operators (trucks, ships) and small last-mile distribution companies (vans, mopeds, cargo e-Bikes), as well as industrial environments (forklifts, AGVs).
Each CCU generates a vast amount of data and alarms, configurable according to the end customer's needs. All this information must be managed and visualized practically through web tools or cell phone applications. In addition, reports and metrics can be generated, even proposing improvements to optimize the use of the vehicles.

Cybersecurity control in the industrial network

SOLVAY QUIMICA

The aim is to detect unwanted real-time access to industrial network equipment and systems.

Complete traceability in the sink production process

TEKA INDUSTRIAL S.A.

The objective is to achieve full traceability of the production process of the sinks. The process is made up of several phases, in each of which faults can occur that need to be collected and evaluated.
By monitoring the entire process phase by phase, we can optimize the production processes to guarantee the delivery of the correct units at the end of the line, reducing the problems derived from the plate change times in the production lines.

Improving the efficiency of manufacturing processes through additive manufacturing

HOSPITAL VIRTUAL DE VALDECILLA

For several years, Valdecilla Virtual Hospital has positioned itself as a pioneering center in additive manufacturing (3D printing) in the healthcare sector, supporting complex surgical planning and developing prototypes of healthcare and healthcare training devices.
From that experience, it has been realized that additive manufacturing is an intermediate tool for the final product in many of its projects. This means it is used to make molds that are injected with specific materials. This is because 3D printing does not allow direct manufacturing of these materials.
Therefore, we need to improve the efficiency of our manufacturing processes and have innovative technology that allows us to innovate new ideas and projects.
For this, we need to develop some kind of silicone printer and similar materials specific to the sector that will allow us to go further.

Augmented Reality for on-site training and remote maintenance repairs.

MAFLOW Spain Automotive, SL

There is a high need for on-the-job training for new hires, as well as recycling of active personnel, which could be done more efficiently through Augmented Reality. On the other hand, the high specialization of the profiles of the maintenance service makes it necessary to provide a solution to the problems through interventions in the machine in person. This maintenance could also be done remotely through Augmented Reality solutions.
